Summary

A Beautiful Burden is a story I wrote over a four-year period from 2001 to 2004. Since then, I have edited and added to it from time to time. It has been, and continues to be, my passion project. The story started out as a poem that I wrote for my oldest son after 9/11 to talk about the event, its horror and it's unknown elements. It was initially titled The Gift. 

I lost that original poem and really can't remember the contents very well. The basic theme was the invention of religion as an inspired gift. It is as beautiful as an innocent child and carries with it that burden. That theme has been carried over into the larger story.  The story follows an eleven-year-old boy for seven days of exploration, discovery and the range of emotion that goes with that. These seven days are paralleled by flash backs spanning centuries of the simple beauty of the religions that came from Abraham and the manipulation and distortion for benefit of those that have followed. Man can justify any behavior with the permission of G-d, depending on his perspective and interpretation of someone else's beautiful words.

A Beautiful Burden is an ambitious project. It is my intent to take the novel, edit it and utilize all creative story-telling mediums to relate the ideas and themes in ways that will have the most impact. I intend to use books, electronic media, video, alternate reality and even, yes reality to convey a message.

So…. I need to raise funds to finish and edit the story in a professional manner, then take the product and utilize the media I have described to generate excitement and a following.

The major creative piece is finished and I would love to get started with the fun part of the project as soon as possible.  I would also love your input.
